Adventures of l'Orange The Duck

It all started one spring when there was a still, cold nip to the air, cherry blossoms hung in full bloom and there were hundreds of little fluffy yellow ducklings running around a farm in deepest darkest Sussex.

One particular little duckling caught the eye of Tessie buying eggs from the farm shop. For the princely sum of £4 the little fluffy duckling was saved from a certain fate of Fois Gras.

He was wrapped up snugly in a car blanket and brought home to a loving family where he grew at a scary rate from a teeny tiny little duckling into a splendid whopper of a goose-sized white Aylesbury duck.

No food was sniffed at, no lap was waddled past, and he would snuggle up to anyone. He loved everybody. He'd sit on Klyve's shoulder and nibble his beard happily for hours; he had his very own family at last.

Then the summer came and he had to make the big move from the warm kitchen into the duck house in the garden. He was miserable. His family was locked away from him and he'd sit for hours watching at the back window wanting to come back in.

But! There was hope. There was a bunny. They became best friends and would chase around the garden together, nibbling things, playing hide and seek and sleeping together in the sun. L'Orange was so happy!

One dreadful evening, the fox got hold of L'Orange and gave him a good chewing. Klyve and Tessie ran to his rescue and he was once more scooped into the folds of the warm kitchen. He had to have stitches but was famous - he was in the Vets News!

People visited, called and wrote to see how he was and he quacked it all up with pride. The bandage stayed for nearly 2 weeks and he showed his war wound off to anyone who'd stop to sympathize.

L'Orange has now moved on to a friend that has her own duck pond and run so he's now got a few friends to play with.

L'Orange now has a range of clothes, baby wear, mousemats and mugs!
