It situated just 10 minutes from the motorway between La Rochelle and Bordeaux. We are in a wonderful rural location so complete peace and quiet are assured. The half mile drive down to our house takes you amongst the vines and sunflowers. We completely renovated this former cognac estate and it now offers a very high standard of comfort with a converted barn as the guest sitting room, two ensuite bedrooms with beams, open fireplaces and stone walls as well as wooden oak floors and tiling in the Charentaise style. The area is renowned worldwide for its famous wine in the Medoc (which you can see from the top of our hill), Bordeaux (a beautiful university town) and St Emilion (a breathtaking medieval town). You can also try wine and cognac tasting at the local chateaux of Blaye and Cognac. The harbours are just 5 minutes from the house and you can sit and enjoy the scenery or sail out into the Gironde estuary. The sandy beaches of Royan are a 35 minute drive away or, of course, the pool is right outside the door!
