The house was built for a wealthy undersecretary of the treasury in the Chester A. Arthur Administration, this 1883 townhouse with paneled staircase and sweeping double parlors is situated directly on historic Logan Circle, overlooking one of city designer Charles Pierre L'Enfant's “special places.” Features include 11-foot ceilings with heavy plaster crown moldings, soaring pocket doors, crystal chandeliers, gilded pier mirrors, thick walls, and eight fireplaces. Oil paintings along with antiques from the Romanesque Revival, Empire and Eastlake periods grace the generously proportioned rooms. |
